What's going on in 2/1?

We looked at some paintings by Gustav Klimt. He does fantastic garden pictures with lots of colour and pattern. We created our picture in the same style. Do you like it?

We went on a walk round school to find plants and insects. We didn't find too much as it had been so dry, I wonder what we might find if we looked now.

We have been finding out about St. Lucia. We learnt about the weather, the crops, the landscape and what tourists can do there. The children wondered whether we could go there for our school trip this year! What do you think mums and dads? Any parent helpers?

class garden

Typical, after all this effort watering it went and rained!

Lots of hard work went into the planting.

We need to tie up the floppy plants.

Make sure the plants are planted deep enough.

Look! we have finished the digging and the ceanothus has been cut. Now we just need to get planting

Have you seen what is going on outside our classroom?
We designed the area to make it look nice and attract wildlife.

We have to get rid of lots of grass first.

We will keep a grass path so we don't tread on the soil. Also we are going to keep the big ceanothus and shape it so we can sit under it. Ben says it will be our class yurt!

We have some very kind parents in our class who have been getting rid of the grass. THANKYOU.

role play

We have been acting out the story of The sunflower that went flop. Ben was the sun and the poor sunflower got too hot and dry.
Luckily Elliott was the rain and this meant the sunflower could grow again.
Tom enjoyed being the sunflower and Ellis and Robert were Mr& Mrs Brown, Charlie was the photographer.
All the children acted the story.
